The man responsible for Angelina Jolie’s glossy mane, Gary Glossman knew he wanted to go into hair when he was just 15 years old and went straight into working at Neville Daniel in Knightsbridge. Gary then moved over to Daniel Galvin, before making the life-changing decision to move to New York at the age of 21.
In New York City, Gary went on to work his magic on numerous editorial shoots, doing stints at Oribe and then Pierre Michel Salon, where he polished up on the tricks of the trade. After a while, Gary made the decision to have a change of scene and seized the opportunity to become Creative Director at Shiseido. After 9 years there, he was head hunted and L'Oreal snapped him up to become their Creative Director. After a 24 year tenure in the Big Apple, Gary made the decision to head back to London and pursue new hair ventures.
Josh Wood (the pair were already good friends) welcomed Gary into the Atelier family, where he has been working as a master creative designer. Since starting at Josh Wood, Gary’s diary has been chock-a-block, with a fair few celebrity appointments slipped in. Gary’s skilled hands have graced the heads of Angelina, George Clooney, the Kardashians, Meg Ryan, U2’s Bono, Mick Jagger, JK Rowling, and we’re sure there are even more he's neglected to mention.
What makes Gary stand out from your average hairdresser is his desire to make all women feel beautiful. Whether you’re 20 or 60, he’ll examine your face to create a style that’s fresh, youthful and sexy. His fun and approachable persona will make you feel right at home as soon as you sit in his chair – and you’ll leave feeling a great deal younger than when you arrived!
Now Portland has the pleasure of having one of the worlds top celebrity hairstylist in its grasp. Schedule your appointment with Gary before the secret gets out, that he’s in town!

Aaron Lafrenz’s passion for hair started as a teenager. As expressions of identity, the first experiments on friends were inspired by goth, mod and punk subcultures. Studies in art history gave way to formal hair training in beauty school. Refining his skills further at the Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, Vidal Sassoon’s architectural approach became his foundation to haircutting. As a young salon stylist, Aaron’s work was recognized with the Intercoiffure/Vidal Sassoon “Excellence in New Design” Award.
Aaron made New York home for much of his career, where he learned from industry legends Luigi Murenu, Yannick D’Is, Wendy Iles and Paul Hanlon. Pursuing jobs for fashion magazines and advertising, he also lived abroad in Berlin, Hamburg and Paris. Aaron styled hair for Fashion Week in New York, London and Paris, at shows for Armani Couture, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Tommy Hilfiger, Cynthia Rowley and Dries van Noten. He also worked on film and print advertising for Goldwell, Wella, Schwarzkopf, KMS and Chanel, and had opportunities to work on the sets of Martin Scorsese, Terry Richardson and Jean-Baptiste Mondino.
With 30 years in the hair industry, Aaron loves the variety of the work: haircutting as sculpture, haircoloring as painting and alchemy. In the salon, translating trends to everyday hair, inspiration is found in the uniqueness of each person.
